LAVERS HILL Update: 1pm 28/10/04 reported by Phil Bellette
On Tuesday night there was 100mm of rain (4 inches). It rains here for 288 days of the year. Temperature today is 14 degrees C with overcase skies, strong SW winds and no rain.
Due to blackouts there has been no electricity at this control for 15 hours, however we have used gas stoves.
600km riders:
Melissa, from Canada, did not start.
The only other 600km rider, Stephen Chambers from Victoria, is going it alone, and riding strongly. He arrived at 1.55am and departed at 2.45pm.
400km riders
Are expected in around 2pm, after which a further update will be posted. |

Information via Phil at checkpoint via Pete's shop in Richmond that was very busy so hope the information is correct in transcription.
Arrived at Laver's Hill at 1600 and departed at 16.35pm

Correction to Lavers Hill Update of 9.15am 29/10/04
Scott Gater Canada 2028 slept
Time not clear during telephone transmission. Believed to be 2028 not 0500. In any case he is continuing and ok. |
