2013 Sydney-Melbourne Alpine 1200: 17-20 November


You’re invited to be part of the second edition of this classic randonnee, which starts on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour and finishes in downtown Melbourne. Along the way you’ll ride through Australia’s national capital and traverse the Snowy Mountains, Australia’s alpine range.

Event Updates

November 13 update:
Riders will need to pack a towel for use at the Mansfeild Checkpoint and the finish at Albert Park. Towels are provided at Canberra and Laurel Hill.


November 12 update:
The routes for each day are now available for download in both .tcx and .gpx formats on The Route page.


November 11 update:
SM1200 cue sheets are now available for download in excel format Download cue sheets.

ACT Government just sent this tweet, noting Mt Franklin is just 25km from Monaro Highway in the ACT (you'll be riding the Monaro Hway between Canberra and Cooma checkpoints, you are not riding to Mt Franklin).
Mt Franklin is 1646m at the peak.
Please ensure you have and carry clothing to deal with the alpine conditions. Even in November it can get cold!


November 10 update:
The Sydney-Melbourne Live Tracking page is now up and running. Twitter feed, Cover it Live and Spot Trackers will be making their appreance as we count down to the Grand Départ.


November 8 update:
Catering at the finish: The finish of this year's SM1200 coincides with the Victorian Region's End of Year BBQ. If you have friends or family meeting you at the finish and they would like to be catered for, please register via:

Riders and volunteers are already catered for and don't need to register.

Cue sheets: Cue sheets will be posted on the web next week as an Excel file, and will be available in printed form as part of your starting pack available at the bike check.
