Herberton Jacaranda Audax 2021 (2021)
Choose your own dirt-riding adventure - a challenging 38 km or a more cruisy 35 km. Both rides start in Wondecla. Make a weekend of it and (free) camp overnight on Saturday with us at the Wondecla Showgrounds. The rides finish in Herberton, where you can soak up the atmosphere of the Jacaranda Festival amongst the steam trains and the history of Herberton, before rolling a few km's downhill (mostly) to where you started.
The 35 km stays mainly on formed dirt roads and forestry tracks around Wondecla and Herberton. It visits some beautiful forested areas before returning on back roads to Herberton and is suitable for most riders who are comfortable riding on dirt roads.
The 38 km is a more challenging route, with highlights including a trip down the old Herberton Range Road (yep, we found it), up the Herberton Railway line, through the old tunnel and along the powerline track to Herberton. It will suit riders who are comfortable with single track riding, or who are happy to do some hike-a-bike sections. There is nothing too desperate on the route, but it will be a challenge !!
