It makes no sense to run and do this ride on a long weekend celebrating being Australian. Australia was built on being sensible, fairdinkum, hard work for honest reward and an overall contentment that she'll be alright.
No one sensible does long unsurported rides in the middle of an Australian summer. In remote areas close to Forbes, there is no water, no mobile coverage, little cover and cars may pass very rarely. There is an abundance of wildlife in the nights however, often on the road.
We are not suggesting you undertake a grueling group of difficult rides in what is spectacularly similar areas with no real benefit incurred.
Ultra flat loops out of Forbes. Carry extra water, there are up to 100km runs without water. The heat can become deadly, tempretures can rise quickly and can stay high well into the evening.
Very early starts to minimise riding in the hot sun. 300+ rides should take a break back in Forbes and ride out when the heat becomes less. Be prepared for a lot of night riding, but the days can be very long in the middle of the summer.
