This is generally a social and relaxed affair with a wide mix of riders, many of whom are trying Mixed Terrain events for the first time.
The ride runs through the Bunyip State Park, close to Melbourne and accessible via the Pakenham train line. Its mainly on quiet unsealed roads, with plenty of great scenery and and rolling hills. What more could you ask for?
The total distance is a 100 km, just over 1000m of climbing, and about 50% gravel. The gravel sections are usually well maintained, and there is no single track. If you feel comfortable with your ability to ride off-road, this event is doable on a road bike. You might get the odd pinch flat, but if you can fit 25 mm wide tyres there is no need to take the MTB.
There are two checkpoints, Gembrook Bakery at 35km and Sherwood Park Orchard Cafe at the finish.
This event is the first of the Mixed Terrain Series and an ideal warm up for the later events, Grand Ridge Road Randonnée 200, and Jam for Jamieson 200/300/400.
And don't forget to join us for a spot of lunch (and a sneaky hydration drink), after the ride at the Sherwood Orchard Cafe.

Second of the Mixed Terrain Series Grand Ridge Road is a classic randonnée through the Strzelecki Ranges on sealed and unsealed roads. The route has been "improved" to include even more of those beautiful Gippsland gravel roads we love to ride.
This year we are excited to announce that the Grand Ridge Road Randonnée is being run in conjunction with the Rapha Gravel Prestige. this means that in addition to the usual 200km Grand Ridge, and 145km Grand Ridge Lite, there will be a Rapha Gravel Prestige 145km. More details to follow shortly.
